History :
Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Veneno was developed to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th anniversary, the Veneno redefined what an extreme hypercar could look like.Based on the Aventador platform, its design pushed boundaries even by Lamborghini standards, resulting in a car that looks more spaceship than street machine. Designed by Filippo Perini,
the Veneno was not merely about visual drama, it was about aerodynamic efficiency optimized for high-speed stability. Only three units of the coupé were sold to private customers, alongside the factory
prototype. Later, nine roadsters were also produced, each even more exclusive and commanding a multimillion-euro price tag.
The name "Veneno" comes from a legendary Spanish fighting bull known for being one of the fiercest and fastest of all time, who fatally gored a matador in 1914 — perfectly suiting the car’s
aggressive appearance and character.
Design :
The sharp, angular bodywork isn't just for show: every line, scoop, and fin has a purpose. The massive front splitter, aggressive side skirts, large rear diffuser, and towering adjustable rearwing are all engineered to produce downforce and channel airflow efficiently. Even the wheel arches are open to direct airflow and reduce lift. Lamborghini used extensive carbon-fiber-reinforced
polymer (CFRP) throughout the body to keep the weight low while maximizing rigidity and safety.
The monocoque chassis is entirely carbon fiber, shared with the Aventador, but with additional aerodynamic components integrated into the bodywork. Lamborghini also developed a special carbon-fiber
material called "CarbonSkin", which was used in the cabin for seats and interior surfaces, replacing heavier conventional materials.
From the centrally-mounted single wiper blade to the periscopic roof scoop and the distinctive Y-shaped lighting signature, the Veneno’s construction was a celebration of futuristic, lightweight
engineering and unmistakable Lamborghini DNA.
Driving Experience :
The Veneno is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, tuned to produce 750 hp (552 kW) — 50 more than the Aventador at the time — allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph)in just 2.8 seconds. Top speed? An impressive 355 km/h (221 mph).
Thanks to its lightweight construction — 1,490 kg (3,278 lbs) dry weight — and Lamborghini’s advanced ISR 7-speed transmission and pushrod suspension, the Veneno delivers a razor-sharp, almost
brutal driving experience. It’s not made for comfort, but for raw performance and sensation.
Despite its road-legal status, it feels like a Le Mans prototype on public roads. The massive rear wing, extreme diffuser, and complex aero elements aren't just for show — they generate significant
downforce at speed, making the car feel planted even at over 300 km/h.
Fun Facts :
- The Veneno Coupé cost around $4 million when new, making it one of the most expensive production cars ever.
- Only 3 coupés, 1 prototype and 9 roadsters were sold to customers. Lamborghini also retained one coupé for itself, making a total of 13 Venenos.
- The Veneno’s design heavily influenced the Centenario and Sián, particularly in terms of aggressive styling and aero elements.
- The taillight design mimics a Y-shaped structure, a theme that became a design signature for future Lamborghinis.
- The Veneno Roadster does not have a roof, not even a fabric top. It’s permanently open, emphasizing its track-focused nature.
- The roadster was revealed on December 1, 2013 aboard the Italian aircraft carrier Cavour.
